Monitor Shopping

As of right now i am shopping around for a good pair of studio monitors. A good pair of monitors are key to have in your production studio because it allows you to hear all of the flaws in your track (this way your track can have the best mixdown). But there are so many different types of monitors, with different advantages, disadvantages, sizes, wattage, ect.. So what to choose?????? I am still deciding as of now but very soon with in the next couple of days, i will have mine. Stay tuned for the pics and new vids that will be up around the middle of March.

Stressful Time of the Year

today was a very stressful day. between the constant struggle to stay sane in this crazy world of sin, this is the time of Finals for all of my classes and all of the work is starting to pile up like crazy. I seriously cant wait until this is over. like really??? Why do teachers seem it necessary to pile up all of this work when they know that we have work for other classes. SMH. O, well. i am almost out of college so at least this wont last too much longer. Keep me in ya prayers though as i will do yall. God Bless!!!

What a difference

Im sitting here listening to all my beats from the early 90's all the way to now and WOW what a difference. I started out making beats on the Roland 909 and now I work with the MPC 2000 and Logic Pro. It is funny how back in the day, i thought that my mixing was on point...lmbo. I knew nothing about EQing, Compression, or ne thing that goes into a good mix. But you couldnt tell me that. HAHA. But now that Christ is in the picture, you can see that he has taken me to levels that I didnt even think i could reach. God gets all the glory. Check out one of my recent beats that is not on the Behind The Boards mixtape!!!! It is called Love You 4ever and it has a "back-packer"/"boom-pap" feel to it. Comment and let me know what you think. So today i am going through my usual everyday routine, check out all of the music and fashion blogs. and this woman sitting next to me, wants all of my attention. I tried to tell her that it is important that i stay up to date with the blogs, but for some odd reason, she really dosent care..lmbo...she is sitting right next to me, so i thought that i would get her to realize what is going on by bloging about it..haha. but all in all, at the end of the day, i cant be mad at her. In my top 5...9th Wonder

In this "De Blog Jam" episode, 9th Wonder makes a beat for David Banner. I love the way he programs his beats. He really dosent stick to a certain format, he just goes off of pure emotion and feeling, and he uses this to make a banger. The first beat that he plays, I really wasnt feeling that much (but this could be because it wasn't finished) but the second beat that 9th plays is crazy!! It is also good to see him doing his thing on the MPC2500. It just goes to show you that it doesn't matter what you use to make your beats, all that matters is what you invest in yourself. If you invest your time and your own money into your production, only good things can happen. Watch this vid and comment and let me know what you think. Shout out to the homie 9th Wonder. The Fence is a documentary comprised of interviews and panel discussions between both mainstream and Christian members of the hip hop culture. The goal of the film is to foster a dialogue about faith, music, and the responsibility and expectations of artists to reflect their morals and beliefs in their craft.

Far too often, individuals in both communities view each other as enemies even though they’ve never met face-to-face or engaged one another in an honest conversation about the issues that concern them most.
“The Fence” asks questions like:

What roles does an artist’s faith have in his music?
What image or identity does “Christian rap” have in the mainstream hip hop world?
Are mainstream rappers just entertainers and storytellers or are they “keeping it real” and simply sharing their life struggles in their lyrics?
Do Christians have to compromise to make it in the mainstream market?
Are collaborations and guest appearances by Christians and mainstream artists a problem for the faith?

While there have been other films that have documented the growing “holy hip hop” culture, there has never been one bold enough to give its mainstream and Christian participants equal time.

This is a video that i came across while i was on the tube and it really gave me some inspiration. DJ Toomp and 9th wonder are both in the studio but in 2 separate rooms. 9th wonder was a little upset that he was in the "little people room" and he jokes on Toomp. Lol. Overall, some "face crunching" beats were played.

Working with Teddy was fun and he was really picky with what he wanted, but that is all good because the cd came out to be one of my top albums of 2009.
